Our story is Oklahoma’s story.
Midwest City was established in 1942 as a military support community to serve the needs of one of the largest logistics and support activities in the U.S. Air Force. The then U.S. War Department chose areas around the nation that had consistently good flying weather year-round, hence Oklahoma’s selection to be home to this large military base. To this day, Tinker Air Force Base continues to serve as a major employer in this area. Midwest City provides residential, commercial, social, educational, and recreational resources to civil employees as well as U.S. Air Force personnel serving at Tinker.
