1897 marked the sudden explosion of black gold that changed the city of Bartlesville's destiny for good. This Cherokee Nation settlement is home to the first commercial oil well in Oklahoma’s vast history, as well as the hometown of Phillips Petroleum, one of the most well-known energy companies in the nation. Modern day Bartlesville has become a place synonymous with the arts and architecture, being the home of the Price Tower, the only skyscraper renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright ever designed.
