Kingfisher
Buckle on the Wheat Belt.
Our story is Oklahoma’s story.
Kingfisher, the county seat of Kingfisher County, sits on part of the original Chisholm Trail and was named for prominent early-day stagecoach station operator, King Fisher. The town served as the land run starting point for “West Liners” and was the recording office for the western district during the Land Run of 1889. Around 1918, Kingfisher proclaimed itself the world’s leading market for wheat. Today Kingfisher remains the county’s business and agricultural center.
