The Sand Bass

Madill
S1 Episode 91
2:56

It's 1963, and the developing lake waters near Madill host a brand-new fishing tournament featuring one of the truly extraordinary sights Oklahoma has to offer: the sand bass run. Each spring, these fish fight up the tributaries, driven by the instinct to reproduce. And because of it, Madill's fishing tournament has grown larger and grander. Today, this National Sand Bass Festival is a wonderful mix of free food, concerts and family events through the first week of June. And it's the reason why fishermen will cast an eye on Lake Texoma for years to come.
