In 1947, the McAlester Rockets were the first champions of the Sooner State Baseball League, Oklahoma's very own Class D minor league. Of the 3,000 young men who played for the league in teams across the state, 60 would be called up to the major leagues and two became National Baseball Hall of Famers.
